Darius D. Howard didn't come up through bootcamps or computer science programs. He came up through a Best Buy sales floor, a Geek Squad precinct, an oilfield plant in McAlester, Oklahoma, and the vending sites and warehouses of an industrial distributor.
At every stop the same thing happened. He found a process held together by paper and goodwill, and he built the tool nobody else would. DOT mileage and plant visitors. Vendors and sourcing for the supply chain team. Customers, training records, and outstanding sales orders for the land rig division. All of it in Microsoft Access, because that was what the company would let him use. The ambition outgrew the tool, and he taught himself the real stack: frontend, backend, databases, APIs, and AI.
Then he stopped asking permission. He founded Tacit Logistics and built TacitOS, an operating system that replaces fragmented logistics workflows for carrier-owned freight. Today he speaks eight coding languages fluently and runs Ari Gold Software with one conviction: the gap between your problem and working software should not take years, six figures, and a room full of consultants to close.
